Facilities

Steloy Castings operates three manufacturing divisions and a specialist finishing, polishing and fabrication shop with a combined floor space of 24 500m² and a production capacity of more than 5 300 tons per annum. We produce sand castings from 0.5kg to 3 500kg and centrifugally cast tubes from 40kg to 2 200kg. Tubes can be up to 830mm in diameter and up to 5 500mm long.
To produce a wide range of castings in most material types and to the highest standards, we invest in the latest technology and equipment. Equipment currently includes:
- Advanced simulation software
- Pattern shops utilising the latest CNC technology
- Sand mixers
- Medium frequency induction furnaces
- Gas-fired heat treatment furnaces coupled to aerated quench facilities
- Horizontal spinning, pull boring and specialist machining, welding and fabrication facilities for centrifugally cast product
- Top of the range emission spectrometers
- Boroscope equipment
- Shot blast machines and associated equipment
- Plasma cutting
- A fully equiped NDT division supplying mechanical testing RT, UT, LT and MPI sevices.
Our main foundry facilities are:

Cobalt Street, Bronkhorstspruit produces static castings from materials that include corrosion resistant alloys (stainless steel and nickel based), low alloy steels and heat resistant alloys. Major product types are casings, valve bodies, impellers, tube sheets & brackets, tube supports, flanges & brackets, return bends and Y-pieces.

Chamdor, Krugersdorp produces static castings and spun cast tube, the latter mainly for the petrochemical sector. Static castings are produced in stainless steels, heat resistant steel, nickel based alloys, carbon steels and low alloy steels, and centrifugal castings in corrosion resistant and heat resistant stainless steels (for petrochemical applications in particular) and alloy steels, which include alternatives to wrought hollow bar. Major product types are casings, impellers, valve bodies, liner plates, tube sheets, spun cast tube (high temperature, corrosion resistant and low alloy). We also offer a complete fabrication service for the petrochemical sector in conjunction with approved partners.

Tungsten Street, Bronkhorstspruit produces static castings in cast irons, nodular irons, steels and low alloy steels for the glass, railway and ferro alloy industry. The plant also provides backup capacity for the production of stainless steel and heat resistant steel castings. Major product types are ingot moulds, liner plates, casings, valve bodies, tube sheets, glass moulds and railway components.

Manganese Street, Bronkhorstspruit comprises a 4500m² finishing, polishing and fabrication facility dedicated to items requiring higher Quality Control input and Quality Control Plans (QCPs). The facility incorporates a specialised welding shop as well as liquid penetrant, radiographic, tensile and other testing equipment. Most projects and items for the petrochemical industry are channelled through Manganese Street, where experienced staff can in detail manage the various projects and finish items off to the high standards required, also producing final documentation and data books.
